CM Podcast 202 – The Walking Dead Mid Season 9 Finale and Review

Mid Season 9 of the Walking Dead was one of the more impactful seasons for Jon and myself. We are introduced to a new danger in the world named The Whisperers who are lead by the demented Alpha. We learn why Michonne is wary of strangers and how she go her scar. We learn about Lydia, the daughter of Alpha and find out if she will be friend or foe to the new alliance of Alexandria, Hilltop and The Kingdom. And the final question is answered: Can we start to trust Negan?

I ask Jon some question about the show like: What does he think about Alpha, Beta and The Whisperers? Jon goes into an eloquent discussion about the new characters and how he feels they came to exist and how dangerous they can be to everyone.

We talk about some other plot points that happened through the season and the shocking event that happened in the penultimate episode. Jon and I talk about who was lost and how impactful it will be in the show and it’s characters.

We then end the podcast with a review of spoilers that I gave in Podcast 195 and how accurate the comic is compared to the show. It is still a very accurate guide on the events that unfolded.

Here is a direct link to Podcast 195 if you would like to hear the original predictions : https://comicsmisremembered.com/2019/02/17/cm-podcast-195-the-walking-dead-season-9-mid-season-premier/

We both are very anxious about Season 10.

CM Podcast 195 – The Walking Dead Season 9 Mid-Season Premier

On Sunday 2/10/19 – AMC had the Season 9 Mid-Season Premier of The Walking Dead. There were several question that were left at the end of the Mid-Season Finale: Is Jesus really dead? Negan‘s cell door is open! Will he take revenge on Michonne and the others at Alexandria? Who are the Whisperers and what do they want? Will Henry ever get out of jail?

We learned the answer to some of these question at the end of the premiere but there are even more questions that will come as the season progresses.

Since I follow the comic, I have a good guess on what will happen with the rest of the season (and will be spoiling it at the end of the podcast). Jon does not read the comic, only watches the show so I ask him questions and see if he can guess at what will happen. Jon talks on how fans will react to Jesus’ death. What will happed with Negan and has he truly changed his ways? Are the Whisperers a major threat and if so, are they worst than Negan and the Saviors? How does he like the new recruits: Magna, Kumiko and Luke?

***MAJOR SPOILERS IN THE PODCAST!!***

After our discussion on the premiere, I will be spoiling the rest of Season 9 based on events that unfold in the comic. Do not listen if you do not want to know the fates of some major characters. Here are a couple of covers from the comic…

Some of these images have already happened – like Negan escaping. But what about the other 2 covers? What does it mean? If you are curious then listen the the whole podcast.

CM Podcast 184 – The Walking Dead Season 9 Mid-Season Finale

Season 9 has been billed as the “finale season for Rick Grimes“.  AMC even started counting down the episodes for Rick’s final appearance.  Jon and I have seen all the episodes of Season 9 of TWD up to the mid-season finale and we will be talking about Rick’s final rodeo and other story lines in this week’s podcast.

We tackle questions like:

Do you like how the Sanctuary vs Oceanside story was tied up?

What are our thoughts on Rick’s ‘final’ episode?

How do you fell about the time skip and the introduction of Magna and her group?

Magna – sympathetic new character or just a female Rick Grimes retread?

We also opine on the newest adversary, The Whisperers – who are they?  WHAT ARE THEY?  How sane are you if you think wearing human flesh is okay?  Finally, we here Jon’s thoughts on Negan’s open door.

Finally, we wrap up the podcast by reviewing my Spoiler predictions based on the comic’s story and seeing just how accurate they were or were not.  This is a spoiler free podcast (unless you have not watched all the episodes up to the Season 9 finale.  If this is true, go watch them and then come back).

CM Podcast 177 – The Walking Dead Season 9 Premiere

It’s 10/13/2018 – Happy Walking Dead Day!

TWD_Season_09

I apologize in advance for this week’s recording.  Jon and I both have head colds and we feel like we are the walking dead right now.  We did not want to wait a week to talk about this so please bare with us.

Jon and I have watched the premiere of Season 9 of the Walking Dead and we go over the show.  There have been many changes since the end of season 8: Negan is no longer in control of the SaviorsRick and the Survivors have taken control of Sanctuary and it, as well as the other communities, have started to produce their own crops and thrive.  This is just a start of the new society that Rick wants to make by there are many hurdles that they will still have to overcome.

We go over some plot points and speculate on the future of this season.

***SPOILER ALERT!!!***

And we wrap the podcast up with our Complete Season Spoiler Review for Season 9 up until the mid-season finale.  We do this by giving plot points from the comic and take guesses on if it will be used in the show.  We have been doing this for a few years now and the predictions have been pretty accurate so far.

We’ll be back to talk about the rest of the season at the end of the mid-season finale.

Your comics pal.

CM Podcast 145 – The Walking Dead Mid-Season 8 Premiere

Another February ends and another season of Walking Dead’s mid-season premiere show airs. Followed by another awesome Comics Misremembered Podcast talking about the show and spoiling the rest of the season.  It goes without saying:

**MAJOR SPOILERS IN THIS PODCAST REGARDING THE SHOW AND THE FUTURE OF SEASON 8**

TWD_Mid_8

Rick looks pissed in this poster and if you watched the episode, you know why.  I will not discuss the object of Rick’s misery in this post but we do discuss it in the podcast.

Morgan also looks to be backsliding to his former killing machine modem.  Jon and I chat about that and where we think it will lead.

We also speculate of the future of the Walking Dead TV show after Season 8.

Finally, I do my favorite section – Season Spoiling Predictions based on prediction of the comic series.  I have read the comic, Jon does not.  I make calculated guesses on what will happen to the characters based on the comic storyline.  It has been pretty accurate in the past, what will happen this season!?

CM Podcast 134 – Walking Dead S8 Mid-Season Finale

Season 8 of the Walking Dead just had it’s Mid-Season Finale last week and it ended on one helluvah cliff hanger!

I won’t spoil it here on the post but we talk about it in the CM Podcast – along with everything else that has happened in Season 8 so far…

TWD_S8

It is still All Out War between Neagan and Rick.  Both sides have taken casualties but who will win?  We shall see.  Before you start listening to the podcast, know this…

THERE ARE SPOILERS IN THE PODCAST

We warn you up front to stop listening if you have not watched everything up to and including the mid-season finale.  Fair warning.

Okay – I review the comic spoilers I gave at the start of Season 8 and I compare them to what the show used (it is still pretty close to the comic).

Then we talk about Carl.

TWD_08_DUO
The Courtship of Eddie’s Father TV theme should play while viewing this picture

We talk about how the show ended and what does that mean for the rest of season 8 – we have several theories on what will happen next.  We also focus on other characters like Eugene and Dwight and what will be their futures.

Fun podcast and we hope you enjoy.  Sorry for my coughing breaks – damn winter cold!

CM Podcast 127 – The Walking Dead Season 8 Premiere

TWD_S8

It’s WAR!  Rick and Neagan are finally going to war with each other.  Who will win?  What will happen to the loser?  How many casualties will there be?  Will Carl ever find another giant can of chocolate pudding?

These are the questions that everyone will be asking as we go through Season 8 of The Walking Dead.  The season premier was last week so Jon and I go over the episode.

TWDcomic_S8

After we finish talking about the premiere, we start our patented All Season Spoilers part of the podcast.  As you know, I have been reading The Walking Dead comic so I will review parts of the comic story that I think we will see in the show and I make predictions on the outcome of events to unfold up to the Mid-season episode.  If you listen to the entirety of the podcast, you will hear speculation on the death of characters – All Spoilers – YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Then Jon wraps up the podcast with a question to the listeners about Blade Runner 2049.

The first casualty of war is innocence. The second is a giant animated tiger. Stop crying, Rick.” – SL Buckly

The Walking Dead Season 7 ended last Sunday so Jon and I will discuss the 2nd half of Season 7.  We talk about Janis and the Scavengers (which is a great name for a band), Sasha’s sacrifice, Eugene’s betrayal, Ezekiel’s choice, Rick’s stand and more!

We also review the predictions I made based on the comic at the end of Season 7’s mid season episode and how much of it came true.

As always, there will be major spoilers in this podcast so if you have not watched all of Season 7 and want to be surprised, don’t listen now.  Come back later.

CM Podcast 82 – Walking Dead Season 7 Mid-Season Finale

AMC’s The Walking Dead Season 7 TV show has reached its mid-season finale last week so Jon and I are going to do a review on the story so far and what we think about the series this year.

twd_negan02

We’ve already done 2 podcasts on the Season 7 Premier and the 2nd episode that introduces Ezekiel so we will not be discussing those points in this podcast.

twd_negan

We do talk about the rest of the season so this is how the podcast goes:

Section 1: Jon does not read the comic, I do.  I ask Jon how does he feel about this season so far?  Is it better or worst than previous seasons?  Does he like the introduction of Negan?  And a lot more questions.  I also give my opinions on the show.  We discuss the mystery figure at the end of the last episode and give our theories on who it will be.

Section 2: I did a review in CM Podcast 46 about how season 7 will play out based on the story line of the comic series.  I read the notes from that podcast and we compare it against what the show did.  We compare and contrast any similarities and/or differences.  Just how close is the comic to the TV show this year.

Section 3: Spoiler Territory – At this point, I warn you that I will be going over near future story lines and making guesses on how the rest of Season 7 will play out and how it will end.  Listen at your own risk.  I give plenty of warning to turn off.

Thanks for listening.

Jim

CM Podcast 76 – TWD Season 7 Revisited

This is not a mistake.  Not a hoax.  Not an imaginary story.  We are talking about The Walking Dead Season 7 again this week.

twd_negan02

You see, Jon could not join me last week to talk about the premier episode and he had several opinions he wanted to share on the show, Negan, the victim(s) and several other things that happened.  I told him I would give him a chance this week to go over it.

caution_spoilers

As always we will be talking spoilers in this podcast.

Jon goes over how the Premier episode went and who he believed would be killed off.  He talks about Negan and Rick’s conversation and what he believes Rick will do through Season 7.

We both have seen episode 2 and we talk about The Kingdom and it’s leader, King Ezekiel

ezekiel

It’s good to be the King!

Everyone that listens to the podcast on a regular knows that I am not a fan of Ezekiel nor the Kingdom.  Jon does not read the comic, so I find out his thoughts on the show’s version of this character.

I promise – We will not talk about The Walking Dead show again until the mid-season break.  Next week, we will talk about Doctor Strange – the movie and the comics.

Your comics pal,

Jim

CM Podcast 75: TWD Season 7 Premier

Finally, it’s here!  The start of The Walking Dead Season 7 and we can finally see who Negan clubbed to death!  Yeah!

twd_negan

“Negan looks like Fonzie with a cravat but it’s the zombie apocalypse so fashion sense is right out the window.”

Before we get into who got a bat to their head, I want to warn you up front; this podcast is full of episode 1 spoilers so if you have not watched the episode and want to keep it a surprise, don’t listen to it now.  Come back once you watch the show.

caution_spoilers

Now we have that out of the way, let me run down the podcast.  I am recording by myself this week because Jon had to be called away on a Family Emergency at short notice.  Don’t worry.  He is all right and the situation has righted itself so he will be back with us next week.

I start the podcast by talking about cliffhangers and how I enjoy them and that taking time away from a show to process it can be a good and creative thing.

twd_negan02

I move into talking about the actual show and how it plays out.  How the show reveals the actual execution of person(s) on the show and how the remaining members of Rick’s team react.

I talk about the symbolism that was used in the show and where I believe the writes got their inspiration (besides the comic).

The podcast finishes on where Carol and Morgan are and what we can expect from  The Kingdom.

carol_morgan

“This shot reminds me of the movie The Shining.  I hope that Carol and Morgan will be okay.”

I then focus on the actual violence of the killings and how they are not as gory as people on the internet portray it.  I give an example of the movie Scanners and its infamous head explosion scene.  I promise to post it here and I am a man of my word:

Hope you enjoy my solo effort and hope to see you back here next week.

CM Podcast 46: Walking Dead Season 6

Well, the 6th season of AMC’s The Walking Dead is in the books and it was a great season.  Jon and I decided to dedicate this podcast to talking about the TV show and the comic that inspired it.

As we know by now, Jon has never read the comic and has only watched the show.  I have read every issue of the comic and also like watching the show.  We decided that Jon would review the show and then I would talk about some differences in the story between the comic and the show and end with a prediction on what will come in the 7th season.

walkingdeadbanner

Since we already talked about the 6th season’s A series and the mid-season premier of the B series on other podcasts, we jump right in were we left off after the mid-season premier.

***Major Spoiler Warning***

mjr spoiler

**If you have not seen any of the Season 6 episodes yet and you will be watching them later, then do not listen to this podcast.  We will be revealing major plot points!!**

Jon pontificates on:

  • Who is Jesus and why doesn’t he save like his namesake instead of losing things all the time?
  • Is Carol beyond redemption or is she just a wolf in cheap clothing?
  • Will you get an Old Sturbridge Village reference if you are not from New England?
  • Is Battle Priest a contradiction in terms?
  • What is the correct pronunciation of apothecary?
  • All this and more semi-serious discussion.

I then pick up from there and do a very brief comparison of the comic to the show and move on to my prediction of plot points for the A series of Walking Dead Season 7 (without revealing any spoilers).

Looking forwatd to season 7.

CM Podcast 39 – Deadpool and Walking Dead

Hello Comic fans,

Welcome to a new podcast!  This week we are going to the movies… to be honest, we already went to the movies and we saw – DEADPOOL!!  Yes, that small art house movie that no one even heard about that came out last Friday and Jon and I will review it today.

deadpool

Also, we have both see the Mid-season premier of The Walking Dead and we have much to say about this episode and things to come this season.

walkingdeadbanner

Before listening to the podcast, know this:  THERE WILL BE MANY SPOILERS ABOUT DEADPOOL AND THE WALKING DEAD!  So, if you have not seen either – go watch the movie and the TV show and then come back to the podcast.

Having said all that, continue on to the podcast…

CM Podcast 24 – The Walking Dead: Comic Vs. Show

walkingdeadbannerWe are talking Walking Dead this week.  Jon has only seen the show and has never read the comic.  I have read the comics since the first issue came out and I have also watched the show since the beginning.  I decided that since the 6th season of the show kicked off a few weeks ago that Halloween seems an appropriate date to talk about the show and the comic.

The first part of the podcast I review how closely the show runners have kept AMC’s The Walking Dead as faithful to the comic as possible.  I have to admit, the show tries as hard as possible to keep the same storylines and themes as the comic and very little is left out.  As comic fans know, when a comic is translated to a movie or TV show usually the results are disappointing.

I review some of the change that occur with a few of the major characters from the comic to the show.  Here is the list in order as I review them:

  • Tyreese
  • Carol
  • Sophia
  • Lori/Judith
  • Dale
  • Andrea
  • Hershel
  • Morgan

Jon and I discuss the changes and if the show benefits or should have stuck to the source material.

After that, John does a recap of what has happened on Season 6 of the Walking Dead up to episode 4: Thank You.  There are some major spoilers for the show here so be warned – if you have not watched the show up to this point, STOP LISTENING TO THE PODCAST!  The 4th episode has some major changes and we do not want to ruin anything for you.

I then speculate on how I think the rest of Season 6 will turn out based on the comics storyline.  I give nebulous details and try not to ruin any forthcoming surprises.

Finally, I put my 2 cents in on this guy and what I think his ultimate fate will be:

Also, I thought Carol looked a lot like the Merchant from Resident Evil 4 in the 3rd episode of Season 6:

carol_merchant

separated at birth?

In case you want to see it again, he is Carol executing all the Wolf members in Alexandria:

That’s all for this week.  We hope you enjoy the podcast,

Your Comics Pal.
