That show is the totally awesome, Batman: The Animated Series

Jon and I recently came across the show bible and read a few passages and then started to reminisce about the show.  Since it’s the 25th anniversary, we could not think of a better time to talk about this ground breaking show and it’s vision of Batman.

Join us as we reflect upon the show and characters and compare it to today’s movies.

CM Podcast 71 – New Comics Review

There are new titles coming out every month so we grab a few and read them and then opine on if they are worth your money or not.

The titles we are reviewing this week are (including the time code):

  • 2:27 – Skybourne
  • 13:58 – 7 to Eternity
  • 27:25 – Rebith: Suicide Squad
  • 41:50 – Britannia

These are 4 different types of comics – 1 is an action adventure title, another is an epic magical western story of revenge, another is a superhero (psychotic) buddy comedy and the last is a horror detective story.  We break them down and let you know which ones to pick up.  Also, you will find out that I cannot say the word “Etruscans” (Ee-Trus-Cans).

Thanks for listening.

CM Podcast 65 – Suicide Squad Movie Review

Welcome back!

We do give our opinions on the recently released DC Movie – Suicide Squad but before we do that, I give my impressions on this year’s #BostonComicCon.

BCC

0:00 – 17:15: Boston Comic Con Talk

Jon was not able to make the Con this year but I had a great time.  I was able to meet Mark Waid, Cliff Chaing, Geof Darrow, Rafael Albuquerque, Terry Dodson, Art Adams and more!!  I do a quick recap and review some of the swag I picked up.

Now let’s move on the the other part of the Podcast…

17:15 – 1:05:00: Suicide Squad and Assult on Arkham

We each give our review of the Suicide Squad movie – The Good, The Bad and The Joker.

SScomic

“Here is a picture of the original Suicide Squad as it debuted in the comics back in 1987”

SSmovie

“Here is a picture of the Suicide Squad from the movie – for better or worse”

After a good skewering of the film, we compare it to the very excellent Suicide Squad Animated movie – Assault on Arkham.

aoa

“The Assault on Arkham Squad – a step between the comic and the movie.”

That’s all folks.  Thanks for listening.

CM Podcast 35 – Comics Show Review

This week was mad crazy with all the comic related programming.  Not only did we get the return of 2 shows we really like: Flash and Agent Carter but we got the premier of a brand new DC show called Legends of Tomorrow.  By the way, did we mention the new Suicide Squad trailer dropped?

We talk about all the returning and new shows in the podcast and what we think about the upcoming Suicide Squad.  We also give a little history lesson on how Flash and Legends of Tomorrow relate to their comic counterparts.

We have a lot to discuss this week and hope you enjoy the podcast.
