CM Podcast – Crisis on Infinite Earths CW Crossover Conclusion (2019 – 2020)

If you listened to our CW Crisis podcast, you know that we were only able to watch the first 3 parts of this crossover because the shows went on a mini-hiatus. You can listen to that podcast here.

Well, that hiatus is over and the final 2 parts have air. We are here to talk about Crisis on Infinite Earths Crossover and look back at all 5 parts.

the 5 part crossover goes as follows:

Supergirl Part 1, Batwoman Part 2, The Flash Part 3, The Arrow Part 4 and finally, Legends of Tomorrow Part 5.

The final 2 parts explain the origins of The Anti-Matter Wave and how the Anti-Monitor came into existence. The remaining Paragons (our heroes) must make a final stand against the Anti-Monitor or face oblivion. Ultimately the heroes win…but at a cost!

One of these people will not show up for the following season.

Jon was disappointed at how episode 4 ended and he explains why but he feels there was a part in episode 5 that made up for it. I also explained to him why the thing he did not like was necessary and it made sense in the overall story arc.

We talk about the show and the many homages it pays to the original Crisis on Infinite Earth comic mini-series. The show even has Marv Wolfman in it – the guy who wrote the comic!

Crisis on Infinite Earths is not perfect but it is more than we both expected. In fact, we never would believe that we would be watching a TV show based on the Crisis comic. We salute you Marc Guggenheim and your writes for putting out some great shows and creating this miniseries.

CM Podcast 238 – Crisis on Infinite Earths CW Crossover (2019 – 2020)

A TV Event years in the making. First there was Invasion!, then Crisis on Earth-X and that lead into The Elseworlds Crossover and finally…

Jon and I were psyched a year ago when it announced that Crisis on Infinite Earths would be the next crossover event for the 5 CW Superhero shows.

Supergirl Part 1, Batwoman Part 2, The Flash Part 3, Legends of Tomorrow Part 4 and finally, The Arrow Part 5.

We have seen Parts 1 – 3. Parts 4 – 5 will not air until mid-January so we decided to review the parts that we saw, what we liked about them and how well did they capture the essence of the original comic miniseries.

Also, below is the clip off YouTube that I was describing at the start of the podcast. This clip aired at the end of Supergirl Episode 8 2018 – the episode prior to the Elseworld Crossover. It is not mentioned much in other episodes but it is a very mysterious clip…

Why, Monitor?

Overall, Jon and I both like the show and what it is trying to do. We go into more detail on the podcast and we are looking forward to the conclusion of Crisis on Infinite Earths!

CM Podcast 132 – CW’s Crisis on Earth-X!

Welcome back once again to the All-new, All-difference Comics Misremembered Podcast.  Okay.  I lied.  It’s not that different.  Jon and I still get drunk and try to remember information about comics, shows and movies but it is a new podcast.  I did not lie about that.

This week we are talking about the CW DC Comic shows: Supergirl, The Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.  They had their 2nd crossover event called Crisis on Earth-X.

earthX

Jon and I watched all 4 parts and we break them down.  We review the highs (and lows) of the shows and let you know if you show watch it.

The other part of a Crossover Event is: will it get you to watch the other shows?  The whole point of this is to expose viewers to the other show’s characters and hope they are interesting enough that you will continue to watch the other shows after the event.  Jon and I also discuss this on the podcast.

I also give a (very) brief history of DC and their relationship with the word “Crisis”.

CM Podcast 80 – CW’s Invasion! Week

This week was really big for the CW DC shows: Supergirl, Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow.  They had their 1st crossover event – Invasion!

This poster looks supercool with the soon-to-be- Hall of Justice in the back

The crossover was pretty good and most of the shows (I am looking at you, Supergirl) did a good job of keeping the story together and also introducing all the characters to new viewers.

What many people might not know is that the Invasion! storyline was based on an actual DC Comics Event that happened across all the comics in 1988.

invasion

The DC Comics Invasion! Event had more than just the Dominators to fight.  Earth was invaded by 9 alien races!

Most of the Axis of Evil Aliens (from left to right): Dominators, Khunds, Gil’Dishpan, Thanagarians and Daxamites.

The DC comics Invasion! introduced the concept of The Meta Gene and also impacted many of the comic books and characters for years to come.

Listen to the CM Podcast and I will go over both the TV show and Comic versions of Invasion!

CM Podcast 35 – Comics Show Review

This week was mad crazy with all the comic related programming.  Not only did we get the return of 2 shows we really like: Flash and Agent Carter but we got the premier of a brand new DC show called Legends of Tomorrow.  By the way, did we mention the new Suicide Squad trailer dropped?

We talk about all the returning and new shows in the podcast and what we think about the upcoming Suicide Squad.  We also give a little history lesson on how Flash and Legends of Tomorrow relate to their comic counterparts.

We have a lot to discuss this week and hope you enjoy the podcast.

Your comics pal,

Jim
