The DC Cinematic Universe has been building up to this moment and it has arrived! The Justice League movie has finally been released…
If you read the reviews or watched a few review shows, you would have heard most of them say the this movie is garbage. We here at Comics Misremembered would say that is not the case…mostly. The movie has it’s terrible elements (which we cover in the podcast) but it also has some highly enjoyable moments too.
What we are saying is “Don’t Believe the Negative Hype“. This movie is not perfect but it is a very good movie. More so than what the reviewers are saying. Listen to our podcast and see if we can’t convince you.
We also give a quick review on when the Justice League first formed in the comics.
Back in 1984, there was a DC comic written by Marv Wolfman and penciled by George Perez called the New Teen Titans. The comic focused on some of the younger heroes in the DC Universe at the time: Robin, Kid Flash, Starfire, Cyborg and Changeling. They were the core team. It was a pretty popular book so Marv and George decided to do something that not a lot of books would do: introduce a new, likeable character to Teen Titans and then make her the teams worst enemy. It was a pretty bold move but it worked and that is the story that is told in New Teen Titans – The Judas Contract.
This year, DC Direct release an animated movie based on the story from the 1984 comic. Jon and I have seen the movie and we have also read the comic so now it is time to breakdown both.
Jon and I compare the 2 and let you know of the differences. The book does somethings better than the movie but the movie also does somethings better than the comic.
We also talk about the comic and what was going on in the world in 1984. We compare some historical events of the previous years and show you how we think these events influenced characters in the story.
