CM Podacst 64 -Amalgam Comics Part 2

Welcome back to the 2nd part of our 2 part discussion on Amalgam Comics.  If you missed the first part, go here to listen:

Amalgam Comics Part 1

Now that you are up to speed, let’s continue with the podcast!  In this week’s palaver, I am continue to go down the list of writers and artists that worked on these books.  Most of them are not working in the comic industry anymore and that is a shame, with the exception of Jim Balent.

We talk about Dark Claw, Spider-Boy, Bruce Wayne: Agent of SHIELD, Super Soldier, Magneto and the Metal Men and end with X-Patrol!

Jon makes a valid point that these comics are hard to find!  In a world of digital downloads and unlimited virtual libraries, you can not buy any of these issue online.  Send an email and tweet to Marvel and DC and make them convert these 90s gems into digital comics!!

Note to all you comic fans living in the Boston area – I will be at the Boston Comics Con on Sunday.  I will be wearing a white T-shirt that says CMP (for Comics Misremembered Podcast).  Say ‘Hi’ if you see me.

Thanks for listening.

Your comics pal,

Jim

CM Podcast 63 – Amalgam Comics Part 1

Marvel and DC crossover comic events are very rare nowadays but that was not always the case.  In fact, 20 years ago was one of the best Marvel/DC comic events that ever happened and it was called the Amalgam Universe!

amalgam01

These Amalgam comics were the result of a battle between the Marvel and DC universes…

versus

The champions fought each other in a limited series called DC Versus Marvel (or Marvel Versus DC depending on which issue you were buying).  The heroes battles each other and it caused such a mess that is smashed the 2 universes together in 1 amalgamated universe.

Jon and I reflect back on the events that lead up to the Amalgam Comics to be published.  This will be a 2 part podcast so tune in next week for part 2.

Your comics pal,

Jim
