CM Podcast 171 – Book Of Genesis

And now for something completely different…

That is a famous segue used on Monty Python’s Flying Circus and it is very apropos of this week’s podcast.  Talking comics may not be different but the subject matter will be.  This week we talk about:

Robert Crumb’s Book of Genesis Illustrated

genesis

This is a hardcover graphic novel drawn by Crumb and it is his interpretation of the bible.  He includes all of the first book of the Judeo-Christian Bible Old Testament.

You may be asking yourself?  Why would I want to read (or reread) the Bible?  I am not a Christian or a believer of religion.

Listen to the podcast.  We make some valid points on why you may be interested in reading this.

Point #1

Crumb’s art is always fantastic.  Here are some panels from the book…

Looking at this book is, to me, worth the price of admission and this is just a small sampling of what you will find inside.

Other Points…

Jon and I give our own interpretations of the Bible and we communicate them with tongue firmly in cheek (especially talking of Sodom and Gammora).

It was also fun for me to reread these stories again.  I forgot so much but that is why we call our podcast Comics Misremembered.

Enjoy the podcast.  It is good for a laugh or two.

Your comics pal.

Jim
